Abortion’s strongest promoters continue to take even more bold and barbaric measures to proclaim the lack of value for a baby’s life, pushing abortion measures to points of neonatal and criminal infanticide. Combined with the undiscussed lack of care for the mothers who choose to end their child’s lives through abortion, the world seems finally awake to the horrors advanced by abortion.
Much like last week’s New York legislation to promote abortion rights up until the moment of birth, this week’s news has been captured by a Virginia delegate proposing a similar bill. This bill endorsed and condoned the killing of any child during delivery and after birth, a heinous legal and moral position. That very same child could easily live outside his or her mother’s womb to be instead held in the arms of so many infertile waiting couples through adoption.
While Virginia’s bill did not pass, the Governor publically gave voice to condonation of murder to preserve the abortion right, joining the current legal position of several other states which do allow for this type of barbary, according to abortion advocate the Guttmacher Institute. If the abortion of the baby is unsuccessful and the child somehow survives the abortion, both the NY law and the VA bill allow the child to be killed after birth to complete the abortive intent. With Virginian’s choice to protect women and children, or not, clearly on the line, the bill failed in Virginia.
As discussed here before, the effects of abortion on family law are vast, and the harms to women are crystal clear, though most do not consider these concerns. It is important to understand that the Virginia bill, like the New York law, removed nearly all protections for women, a fact that few are discussing. The NY law allows non-physicians to perform abortions, with no second opinion needed, as well as removal of basic hospitalization protections in the event of medical mistakes during abortion surgery which would become much more likely when performed without a doctor’s supervision. The celebrations of abortion ignore the very real facts that this type of legislation really puts women at grave risk. Rather, pro-life is pro-woman.
The good news is that while this is happening in state legislatures, Christian radio is promoting the World’s Largest Baby Shower as a benefit for the March of Dimes. This stark contrast reveals the battle over life – those who value it regardless, and those who wish to take it nevertheless.
To accomplish restoration of the American family, states need laws that protect, rather than harm, women and children, especially at the point of labor and delivery.
