COVID-19 from Survival to Thriving

This guest post is courtesy of Charles Bowles, Regent Law 1L, and how he and his family are coping with the current pandemic circumstances:

I am so, so grateful for the goodness that has come from this.  I know everyone knows of the difficulties, so there is no reason for me to bemoan those.  However, I can celebrate that I won several months home with my children and can watch them develop, grow, laugh, and smile during this time where they grow so fast, and still complete my first year of law school.  I will never regret spending more time with them.  Also, this has been a great time to support my wife and rebuild our relationship.  Our relationship wasn't negative, but we only saw each other in passing due to our schedules.  We are growing much closer and enjoying this wonderful time together.  I know I needed a moment to simplify, slow down, and take a breath.  I know God uses all things for His good, and I have a feeling even amid adversity, I can celebrate many of the good things.

I went to a convenience store yesterday, and it gave me such joy.  Our churches [are connected] by comfort and by family ties.  I say this to preface: one of the things that is a common call and answer in our local African-American churches is the leader will say, "God is good, all the time," then the church responds, "All the time, God is good!" People in the convenience store not only said it back and forth in their greetings but were talking about the faithfulness and wonderfulness of God.  I felt privileged to hear praise in a unique place at an unconventional time!

I hope you and your family are well; I look forward to everyone getting back and celebrating by the fall!
