FOCA by Stealth: Why Health Care Reform Currently Before Congress is Dangerous to Families

Family restoration begins with protecting the youngest lives of family members.  The current health care reform being pushed upon Congress is more dangerous to families than I ever thought it could be.

The health care bill from Washington strategically provides for bureaucrats and abortion industry lobbyists – and would represent the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade. This health care reform bill appear to implement the cornerstones of the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) which I have blogged about before

These measures could mandate that virtually every American be forced into a health plan that includes abortion coverage -- and require honorable medical providers to violate their consciences and perform abortions or risk losing their jobs. Because these would be federal mandates, state laws that now restrict abortion will be overturned and completely nullified.

To learn more about these prospects, view the nationwide "Stop the Abortion Mandate" webcast from pro-family leaders across the country available at:

Restoring families by declining this particular health care reform has never been more critically important.

  1. I think it's interesting to view the healthcare legislation as FOCA by stealth. I think that it makes a lot of sense. If you can't convince the American public that a broad expansion of the right to murder child is warranted, then you go ahead and trick them into it by starting a propaganda machine about how healthcare in our country is "broken" and needs to be fixed. Oh, and by the way, publicly funding abortion on demand is part of that necessary remedy.

I've never been one for judicial activism, and I usually trust the legislative process, but I can't help but think that the only way to ever win this battle is going to be with the overturning of Roe v. Wade. So, whether Anthony Kennedy wakes up one day and realizes that stare decisis simply isn't a strong enough justification for the largest genocide the world has ever seen or conservatives win the next presidential election and add a 5th Justice who is willing to strike abortion down, I pray for the day when Scalia puts his pen to the paper and restores real choice: the choice to live.
