The Cost of Family Fragmentation


Nebraska had a national high 134% increase in TANF expenditures, households had a 204% increase in annual SNAP costs, and a 21% increase in food costs for WIC.  The conservative five year cost of family fragmentation of TANF, SNAP and WIC for Nebraska is $386,971,913.40.

Nevada saw a 35% increase in TANF expenditures, Nevada households had a national high 393% increase in annual SNAP costs, and a national high 85% increase in food costs for WIC.  The conservative five year cost of family fragmentation of TANF, SNAP and WIC for Nevada is $612,471,703.63.

New Hampshire saw a .1% decrease in TANF expenditures, households had a 260% increase in annual SNAP costs, and the State saw only a 4% increase in food costs for WIC.  The conservative five year cost of family fragmentation of TANF, SNAP and WIC for New Hampshire is $258,127,372.43.

New Jersey had a 12% decrease in TANF expenditures over the last five years, but households had a 251% increase in annual SNAP costs since 2007, and the State saw a 50% increase in food costs for WIC from 2007-2011. The conservative five year cost of family fragmentation of TANF, SNAP and WIC for New Jersey is $2,002,735,330.54.

New Mexico had a 64% increase in TANF expenditures, households had a stunning 254% increase in annual SNAP costs, and the State saw only a 2% increase in food costs for WIC.  The conservative five year cost of family fragmentation of TANF, SNAP and WIC for New Mexico is $875,302,084.35.

New York saw a 7% increase in TANF expenditures over the last five years, households had a 230% increase in annual SNAP costs since 2007, and the State saw a 29% increase in food costs for WIC from 2007-2011. The conservative five year cost of family fragmentation of TANF, SNAP and WIC for New York is $9,948,121,325.72.

North Carolina had a 27% increase in TANF expenditures, households had a stunning 253% increase in annual SNAP costs, and the State saw a 26% increase in food costs for WIC.  The conservative five year cost of family fragmentation of TANF, SNAP and WIC for North Carolina is $3,260,139,880.08.

North Dakota had a 3% decrease in TANF expenditures, households had a 185% increase in annual SNAP costs, and the State saw a 9% increase in food costs for WIC.  The conservative five year cost of family fragmentation of TANF, SNAP and WIC for North Dakota is $450,016,237.57.
