Supreme Court Welcomes Justice Amy Coney Barrett

In explaining a judge's relationship with the law during Senate hearings on her confirmation to the Supreme Court of the United States, Amy Coney Barrett explained how she isn't Queen Amy issuing orders about how she would like the law to be. Rather than live by her own personal view of the constitution, she understands and lives by the rule of law.

A writer at the Center for Religion, Culture, and Civil Society discussed this notion in the context of Christianity, quoting  John Paul II in his 1995 letter to women and the "feminine genius" found in women who serve something and Someone greater than themselves.  (e.g. Lk 1:38).

“This is the way in which authority needs to be understood, both in the family and in society and the Church. Each person's fundamental vocation is revealed in this [service] for each person has been created in the ‘image’ of the One who is Lord of heaven and earth and called to be his adopted son or daughter in Christ."

Seeing the world in this beautiful way changes the world.  Now Justice Amy Coney Barrett is in the public square and part of the Supreme Court of the United States because she is willing to serve others, and live for something greater than herself, living real Christianity.
