The Supreme Court of the United States will hear a case
this week that could make a tremendous difference for the protection of women
and their unborn children in America.
The historic
abortion case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, is taking
place on the morning of Wednesday, December 1.
Video livestream is not permitted in the High Court, but audio livestream is
available, and you can access that on CSPAN, or various pro-life legal
organizations such as here.
What does Dobbs have to do with protecting
women and their children? The “viability rule,” which says that states may
limit—but not outright prohibit—abortions in the first half of pregnancy, or
until the baby is “viable” outside the womb, has been a significant barrier for
states seeking to enact strong life-affirming laws. With medical advancements that save the lives
of increasingly-younger children, this challenged Mississippi law takes center
stage.
In this case, Mississippi expressly defied the viability line, arguing that the
state has a compelling interest in protecting the lives of unborn children much
earlier because late-term abortion is dangerous for women, deadly for children,
and degrading to the medical profession.
Several rallies will be happening on the Supreme Court steps via Facebook Live, starting at 8:30 am ET. Please pray for the Justices and the litigants.
The 700 Club will interview Regent Law’s Robertson Center for Constitutional Law Brad Lingo from 9am to just before the argument, which will be followed by live Q&A between Dean Lingo and a DC Office CBN correspondent, where the significance of the case and what to watch for in the argument will be discussed.
I will be there as a guest of Regent Law alumni directors with the Family Policy Alliance which will be broadcasting from the steps of the High Court after the argument with a live-stream on their Facebook page. Watch for Family Policy Alliance’s launch of a website to prepare for state-based legislative battles if the Supreme Court overturns the troubled Roe decision.
Family restoration is advanced when states are allowed to
protect women and life in the womb, both human lives created in the image
of God.
