The significance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day reminds us of a godly
vision against racial discrimination in federal and state law embodied by his
wonderful “I Have a Dream” speech:
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in
a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the
content of their character… so let freedom ring!”
As we
celebrate the legacy and life of Martin Luther King Jr., let us also never forget
his words, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” and allow
this time of celebration of Dr. King to also prepare our hearts for Sanctity of
Life celebrations next weekend. Abortion is an unthinkable injustice for the millions of
lives we have lost and for the mothers who have had to overcome extreme
hardship in losing their child.

“Lord,
break our hearts for what breaks Yours.”
