Family Restoration and Work Compensation

This guest post is from Carter M. Kovalcheck, Regent Family Law student:

A Chinese Court ordered a husband to pay his wife more than $7,000 in compensation for housework over the duration of their marriage.  The Court held that the husband was obligated to compensate his wife because her contribution to the marriage was "intangible property value" and thus is considered an asset.

This ruling comes on the heels of a global debate on whether societies should be compensating wives for their work within the home.  Advocates for providing this type of relief for women in divorces are hoping this becomes a trend globally.

Family restoration is accomplished through the ability to recognize the family’s issues and effectively communicate those issues to one another.  Bottling up issues only leads to worse outcomes.
