Dobbs's One Year Anniversary

One year ago today the Supreme Court of the United States ruled on abortion regulation in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, 597 U.S. __ (2022), freeing states from federal regulation that required the right to abortion be treated as constitutionally fundamental. Instead, the consequence of that ruling was that abortion regulation moved to the states.

The WONDERFUL news is that since Dobbs, over 25,000 babies have been saved from abortion, according to LifeSite news. Furthermore, Disney-owned polling website FiveThirtyEight stated that “there were 24,290 fewer legal abortions between July 2022 and March 2023, compared to a pre-Dobbs baseline.” This is life-saving news at the foundation of restoring families.

According to a study from the pro-abortion WeCount coalition, the number of abortions in the United States fell by 10,000 in just the first two months following the Dobbs decision in June 2022. In fact, Dobbs did not recriminalize abortion in any way but rather it permitted states that had “trigger” laws that would come into force when Roe was overturned or passed new pro-life laws that ban abortion or severely curtail it, to protect human life in utero. To find out what the laws are in your states see AfterRoe.com.

Also according to data from WeCount, the total national numbers conceal the fact that in states where abortion became illegal, there were 22,000 fewer abortions, while states that promoted abortion – including trying to attract abortion tourism by targeting women in states that ban or restrict abortion – saw the number of surgical and chemical abortions increase by 12,000. The net result is a total decline of 10,000, or six per cent in total abortions committed. WeCount’s Ushma Upadhyay said the data demonstrates that neighboring states have not “absorbed” the full previous demand for abortion in states where it became illegal or difficult to obtain an abortion.

This means that states upholding abortion are performing more of them, a foolish and murderous method to reducing state population that will bring long term diminishment to those states economically, demographically, and innovatively because every life aborted is a loss to society on myriad levels.

Finally, on this one year anniversary, rather than continuing to refer to Roe, when we speak about the tragedy of abortion, let us leave Roe behind in the graveyard it created of over 63 million innocent lives, and take back life to move forward with this great moment - June 24 – “Dobbsiversary.”  Millions of people now alive because of it will be celebrating annually with us.  Happy anniversary Dobbs – Happy Dobbsiversary!
